Resting

I joined Renee Antoinette Holt on the Rhythms: Grace for Every Season podcast to talk about something so many of us struggle with but rarely give ourselves permission to pursue: rest. Renee has created such a beautiful, faith-filled space with this podcast, one designed to help listeners slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with God in the middle of real life. Through Scripture readings, devotionals, quiet reflections, and meaningful conversations, each episode feels like a moment of rest for your soul.

In Episode 4 of the “Into a New Season” series, Renee and I sat down to explore what it really means to embrace spiritual rest, trust God's pace, and release the anxiety so many of us carry without even realizing it. We live in a world that constantly pushes us to move faster and produce more, and that pressure can seep into our faith if we're not careful. During our conversation, I shared about the importance of recognizing that God's pace is different from the one the world sets for us, and that learning to trust His timing is one of the most transformative acts of faith we can practice.

We talked honestly about what it looks like to slow down and release the pressure we put on ourselves, especially in seasons that feel overwhelming. So much of what I've learned through my own journey and through walking alongside others in counseling and pastoral care has confirmed this truth: rest is not the absence of responsibility. It's the presence of trust. It's choosing to believe that God is still working even when we step back from striving.

If you've been feeling anxious, stretched thin, or just plain exhausted, I pray this conversation meets you right where you are. You don't have to earn your next breath. God is already there in the stillness, waiting to remind you that His grace is sufficient and His pace is trustworthy.
